Watch a movie on a large screen at the library!

Celebrate Yiddish language and culture with the screening of Maurice Schwartz's Tevye. This Yiddish language film focuses on two of the more well known stories by Sholem Aleichem and features one of his most loved characters, Tevye. After being released in 1939, the film was presumed to be lost. The film was then rediscovered in 1978, and was later included by the Library of Congress for preservation in the National Film Registry. It is the first non-English language film to achieve this honor.

This film is presented as part of the Yiddish Book Center's Public Libraries Program, a partnership with the American Library Association. Made possible by the Lilly Endowment, Inc.
