Saturday, March 9, 2024 10 a.m. & 11:30 a.m.
No cost to participate, registration highly recommended
Bring the whole family to this interactive workshop, which will explore works from early cinema pioneer Georges Méliès and the continued influence of the “father of special effects” on film today. Alongside the movie-concert “Right in the Eye”, these workshops offer an introduction to the movie-concert, the early days of cinema and the moving image until the advent of the cinematograph. It also looks at the discovery of Méliès’ works including viewing of short films by the Lumière brothers and by Méliès, and explanations of special effects and visual tricks. Throughout this workshop, we will also discover how the graphic of Méliès is used nowadays, as a legacy and a reference as well, by contemporary artists, in music and cinema.
