Come enjoy a performance from Broomfield's 2024 Residence in Artistry, Alcoléa & cie. “Right in the Eye” is an immersive concert/cinematic experience comprised of twelve short films by Georges Méliès, a master of early cinema and a wizard of special effects. Many are familiar with his dazzling and pioneering film work from the hit 2011 Martin Scorsese movie “Hugo”. On stage, during the screening, the Alcoléa et Cie Ensemble trio of musicians plays some fifty different instruments, including rare, unique, and hand-built ones. Acclaimed French composer and musician Jean-François Alcoléa has written the original score, which unfolds in perfect symbiosis with the creative genius of Méliès. Poetic, playful, and filled with surprise and delight, Right in the Eye is a great show for children, adults, and everyone in between who loves the sweet madness of early cinema and exciting contemporary music. Following successful runs and 500 performances in Europe and in North America, the French artist and composer Jean-François Alcoléa continues its epic journey all over the world.
