Program Description
Event Details
Book some time to discuss a classic of Yiddish literature in a welcoming setting with fellow community members! This it the final of four sessions that will be held at the Broomfield Library as part of the Yiddish Book Center's Public Library program over the course of 2026.
At the Dec. 8 meeting participants will discuss "A Jewish Refugee in New York" by Kadya Molodovsky. The book follows a refugee from Poland, chronicling her struggles as she adapts to life in a new country, and provides a piercing insight into the Jewish community of New York as it dealt with social, political and cultural tensions during WWII. Copies of the discussion questions along with a biography, bibliography and read-alikes will be available at the Reference Desk on the second floor of the library starting Nov. 9, 2026.
The full list of titles to be discussed by the Between Two Worlds Book Group includes:
- "Tevye the Dairyman" by Sholem Aleichem (Feb. 3, 2026)
- "The Zelmenyaners" by Moyshe Kulbak (April 7, 2026)
- "The Only Good Indians" by Stephen Graham Jones (Sept. 15, 2026)
- "A Jewish Refugee in New York" by Kadya Molodovsky (Dec. 8, 2026)
This discussion is presented as part of the Yiddish Book Center's Public Libraries Program, a partnership with the American Library Association. Made possible by the Lilly Endowment, Inc.
